Baby Blue Eyes

This was my submission for Novembers 'Out of the Hat' challenge site, you had to use the following criteria:

1. A tree - Lisa Kamphuis

2. 3 pics of different sizes - Natalie King

3. Use a die cut paper - Avina Lim

Here is my take:

Another layout of baby Keira, I just cant get enough of her she is so adorable :)

I loved the criteria for this challenge, I knew straight away what photos I wanted to use and even the die cut paper. My photos are all different sizes and instead of using one tree (like Anne) I have a small forest....... lol As the die cut paper was not very large I have kept the layout simple and not too busy!
My stint at 'Out of the Hat' is nearly over, I will miss the other ladies on the team, Anne, Christine, Taryn and Debbie, we've had a lot of fun. Proudly we were the first Mad Hatters chosen so I will always remember that :) Thanks to Amanda for my first ever DT position, its made me think out of the square and to meet deadlines!! I will miss you all, the good thing is I will be back next month to play along with the next lot of criteria!

Cheers for now
Shazza

Love you All

This was submission for November at 'From Screen 2 SCrap' challenge blog, you had to take your inspiration from the poster Kill Bill 2 with some added criteria.

1. negative space

2. must have a cutout from a photo/photos

3. must use blue, pink and yellow somewhere on your layout

4. painted title

*Movie Diva Demand* For an extra bonus two points ....... paint your title red!! ( This is optional, you dont have to do this but it does give you the extra bonus points!)

This is my submission called 'Love You All'

This is my neice Megan, stretching out her hands, the words (attached to wire) she is holding says.... 'I love you all this much'. I have covered all the criteria but I missed out on the bonus points for not painting the title red............ Thanks Shazza

Keira's Teddy :)

I have finally finished our dear baby Keira's jointed teddy, its taken me months. Lots of sewing, stuffing, pulling apart, putting back together, adjusting the joints.... and a lots of cursing.
The face was the hardest, oversewing the nose was a nightmare. I think one eye is slightly out of whack.... but whats a baby to know!! :)

I'm happy with the end result.

This is [me] on my wedding day 1981 and the church (St John's Anglican Church, Heidelberg), that I was married in, (in the background). I think I went a bit overboard with the flowers.

I have covered all criteria 12x 12 double, journalled in my own handwriting on tags and my folded item was an old fashioned folded newspaper hat.... which they are both proudly wearing!! I also got the kids next door to add some doodles to the pages, they loved doing that!!
I really enjoyed the challenge. Thanks Sandra, Belinda and Ronnie!

Van Gogh's Starry Night - October

Here is my submission for Octobers ARTastic challenge blog, you had to take inspiration from Van Gogh's Starry Night.

Shazza - 'Paris at Night'

My take on 'Starry Night', a roof top view over Paris at night.

I tried to get a behind photo of my two cats 'Astro and Kimba' together... but do you think they would co-operate, not on your life, no amount af coaxing or tuna bribing would they sit together!! There's a saying 'never work with children or animals', now I understand why?!?

The cats are cut out of felt and I hand cut all the roof top buildings and then layered them to get the feeling of distance and height........ I enjoyed the inspiration from Van Gogh's art work :)

Last plug for Erika Martin's Journalling 101 course starting 19th OCtober!!

If you join the course please put my name 'Shazza' in the comments section when you pay for your registration, so Erika Martin knows where the referral came from.... I think I am the only Aussie on the Design Team...........

The Stampin' Mama Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course
You've asked for it....It's BACK....
and it starts on October 19th!

Register for class by Saturday, October 3rd, and receive a FREE copy of The Stampin' Mama Artwork Inspiration CD

One of the things that I hear most often about my scrapbook layouts is that people connect with the journaling. They feel that, even if they don't know me, they can connect with me and feel like they know me simply by reading the journaling that I've included on my layouts. They feel like they understand the story I'm trying to tell by reading my journaling.

The next thing that I hear most often is that journaling is really hard for most people to include on their layouts. There are many reasons that people don't include journaling on their layouts.

  • They feel like they don't have anything to say.
  • They don't know where to start.
  • They feel like they're not a writer.
  • They hate their own handwriting.

Do any of these sound familiar to you? Do you feel this way?

The truth is, there's a writer in all of us. Our photos have stories to tell. Some people just need a little help to bring that writer out to tell the story.

"The Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course"
is tailored for people just like you!

"A picture is worth a thousand words." We all know the saying......but do we put the words with our pictures? If you're putting your pictures in scrapbook albums but aren't telling the stories that go with them, you're missing the other half of the photos.....the words that tell the story!

If you're looking to create artistic and creative albums and want to tell the stories but need some help to get started, then I know you'll enjoy the upcoming 12 week course that I've created.

"The Journaling 101 Online Scrapbook Course" starts October 19th!

All of the classes will be archived on the site for 3 months after the course finishes so if you can't get to the challenges and homework right away, you can always go back to it. The archives and galleries for the class will be up through March 4th, 2010, so there's plenty of time to get caught up.

Each week's class will include:

  • ALL NEW never-before-seen layouts!
  • Techniques, tips and ideas to stimulate your creative process
  • Tasks to complete
  • Challenges
  • Sample pages each week from me (Erika Martin) and 3 other amazingly talented scrapbook artists (one of those is {me} 'Shazza"................ lol)
  • A gallery for you to upload your pages to so that we can all share with each other
  • An interactive forum with discussions on each week's work
  • PDF files with all of the course outlines so that you can print them out or save them to your computer for future use
  • One-on-one email correspondence with me (Erika Martin) if you need help with any of the tasks

If you're already a scrapbooker or even if you've never scrapbooked before.....this course has something for everyone! It doesn't matter where you live or what you scrapbook with, this course has been created for everyone!

Journaling 101 - Design Team Bio - Linda McClain

Hi Ladies,

Pop on over to Erika Martins Stampin mama blog and check out the bio of Linda McClain, she is one of the DT members featured for the Journaling 101 Course, you can get toErikas blog page from here.

Here is a little bit of info about Linda..........

I grew up in Indiana but Texas has been home now for over 25 years. My Tom and I enjoy watching our two children grow into incredible adults and have a lot of fun with them and our dogs. My day job as a nursing home surveyor keeps me away from them and my crafting more than I’d like, but it also gives me the opportunity to meet and help amazing people across Central Texas.

The movie producer Cecil B. DeMille once said "Creativity is a drug I cannot live without." (Being an RN who scrapbooks, wouldn’t you know I’d just love a quote about both drugs and creativity?) I do paper craft for selfish reasons – it keeps me sane.

Happy-Graduation-Caitlin-013-1024x1024

There's still plenty of time to sign up in time for the course to start. For more info and registration details, check it out here ---> Journaling 101 Online Scrapbooking Course

And don't forget to mention in the comments to Erika – that Shazza sent you!!

Look at the great page Linda did with the
