Now!! let me introduce you to

The CARS

The Cars are an American rock band that emerged from the early New Wave music scene in the late 1970s. The band consisted of lead singer and rhythm guitarist Ric Ocasek, lead singer and bassist Benjamin Orr, guitarist Elliot Easton, keyboardist Greg Hawkes and drummer David Robinson. The band originated from Boston, Massachusetts, and were signed to Elektra Records by George Daly,[1] then A&R head, in 1977.[2]
The Cars were at the forefront in merging 1970s guitar-oriented rock with the new synth-oriented pop that was then becoming popular and which would flower in the early 1980s. The Cars started fresh with their debut album The Cars which went on to go platinum in late 1978. The Cars' debut album was called a "genuine rock masterpiece" by Allmusic. Probably the most successful and well known song from the album, "Just What I Needed", started as a demo in 1977. The song was sent as a mix tape to a local DJ in the Boston area, who played the song in heavy rotation. This soon caught the attention of other DJs, which led to the signing of the band by Elektra Records in 1977. The Cars have mentioned this numerous times including in their "last" interview in June 2000.
The band broke up in 1988, and Ocasek had always discouraged talk of a reunion since then, telling one interviewer in 1997 "I'm saying never and you can count on that."[3] Bassist Benjamin Orr died in 2000 from pancreatic cancer. In 2005, Easton and Hawkes joined with Todd Rundgren to form a spin-off band, The New Cars, which performed classic Cars and Rundgren songs alongside new material. The remaining members reunited in 2010 to record a new album, titled Move Like This, which was released May 10, 2011, and a tour to start on the same day.[4]

Here are the Lyrics to.........

You must use a word....OR a couple of words...OR a sentence OR even the song title on your page. This is a free scrap so any theme goes :)

DRIVE by the CARS

who's gonna tell you when
it's too late
who's gonna tell you things
aren't so great
you can't go on
thinking nothing's wrong
who's gonna drive you home tonight

who's gonna pick you up
when you fall
who's gonna hang it up
when you call
who's gonna pay attention
to your dreams
who's gonna plug their ears
when you scream

you can't go on
thinking nothing's wrong
who's gonna drive you home tonight

who's gonna hold you down
when you shake
who's gonna come around
when you break

Special Sisters

Here is my entry for Scraphappy Kats FNC (Friday night challenge)hosted by the lovely Lexie :)
It's MESSY!!! and it's loads of FUN!!!
It doesn't really have to be messy but when I get paint out I love to get messy

For tonights challenge you are to use the colours
BLACK
WHITE
and
GREY
(I know they are not colours, they are shades)
and an accent colour of your choosing
and there is to be PAINT it can be as little or as much as you like
there are no other restrictions

This is my entry called 'Special Sisters' (my brothers 4 girls), my accent color was a neutral sandy color.
I added white and black paint by using the splattering effect and also by adding paint to corrugated cardboard and making little impressions all over the page.
This page also gave me the chance to use some of the gorgeous embellies from the My2angels embellishment kit club from August. I have used the black and white bakers twine, scrapware antique mini alphas, the black feather with bling, and a pin. Just look how these products have added that special 'Zing' to my page :)

and here is a close up :)

A Day at Bruno's Art and Sculpture Park

Here is my Saturday night page from Tracy's (my2angels) class at Kats 2011 retreat, where we used a pizza box to create a woodgrain effect, to match the prima papers (using the opposite side of the pattern paper.....take a look next time on the opposite side of your double sided pp as there sometimes can be a subtle pattern which is great to use instead of cardstock as your base).

A Day at Bruno's Art and Sculpture Park

Cut very thin strips of the pizza box (around 2mm) and turn on its side then attach in strips with double sided tape to create the woodgrain effect, then adding my2angel leaf charms with green bakers twine.
We also added a few lizard charms eating their way through the pattern paper
and the title 'PARK' is Scrapware Correboard Letters.
Scrapware Trees covered with Peeled Paint Crackle Paint and of course my2angels tree and snail charms.

You can create the knots in the woodgrain by rolling strips of pizza box and then working the wood strips around the knots. I loved how this turned out but there was a lot of cutting out of the pizza box strips :) but well worth the end result :)

This is DS Adam at Bruno's Art and Sculpture Park, sitting on one of the statues looking very comtemplative :)

Big Smile

Here is Jennas take on the inspirational movie poster at FS2S this month.

You had to take your inspiration from the movie poster ''Holiday Inn'

For an extra 6 bonus points :)

1) Use music sheet pp on your page = 1 pt
2) Two tone title = 2 pts
3) Lets see some red and navy on your page = 3 pts

Jenna doesnt have a blog so I'm uploading here :)

I think Jenna did pretty well this month, mind you she has used some of my favourite bits and pieces that I was saving for another project. I gave her a bit of advice and got her to add a few more embellies as it was looking a bit bare at one stage....but I think her end result turned out cool...mind you she is not in the running for any prizes.  This is all just practise for her.......... lol

Machu Picchu - City in the Clouds

Here is my entry for Scraphappy Kats FNC (Friday Night Challenge). This week you had to take your inspiration from one of Kats scrapbooking layouts and it must be monochromatic (same color, different shades). You must have your entry emailed to Kat by midnight Tuesday..

I just loved Kats inspirational piece...how cool are those
colored photos against the shades of brown!

Now here's mine....

I went with shades of Yellow!!!
I dont think I have ever done a monochromatic layout using Yellow!
But Hey!! I think it turned out super......

Machu Picchu - City in the Clouds

Journaling says......

Adams trip to Peru in early 2011.
Here he is, at the Inca city of Machu Picchu.
He said it was one of the most amazing places he has ever seen.
Adam described it as a beautiful and peaceful place.
The city just blends into the hillside.
It has the most amazing terraces, temples and aquaducts

Up with the Birds!

Here is my take on Jane Howdens FIRST challenge at Soul Scrappers. If you would like to join in, you have until Monday 22nd of August to upload your entry to the Gallery :)

Here are the details....

Getting up each morning!!

For this layout challenge I’d like you to focus on one or more elements of your daily getting up routine.  Do you roll out of bed in a cheerful mood and head out the door for a morning walk?  Do you perhaps enjoy yoga or tai-chi either outside in the fresh air or perhaps in your sunny living room?  Do you, like me, head straight for the kitchen to make a piping hot cup of tea or coffee to help shake those morning drearies?  Maybe you aren’t fully focused until you have eaten breakfast or had a hot refreshing shower or possibly your method of coping with the morning is to hit that snooze button, pull the covers over your head and go back to sleep for a few more precious minutes!

Do a page telling us what it is you do first thing each morning.

And a close up!

Journaling says....

I’m up and out of bed at 5.15am daily.

First up feed the cats.

Next a cup of white tea in my favourite panda cup 

I usually grab a ski yogurt and grains or some toast and vegemite (yum!)

I sip my tea whilst trawling through my emails.

Next…….Dress in my work uniform, Hair, Make up, Teeth…Oops almost forgot lunch!!!

I’m out the door to get to work by 6.45am, I start on the floor at 7am.

Thank heavens work is 5 mins from home.

Gee!! I’m already exhausted !!! lol

Cheers

Scraphappy Kat - August Sketch

Hi Ladies!
Here is my entry for Scraphappy Kats FNC (Friday Night Challenge). This is my first entry and I hope to join in quite often in the future. The sketch is a little faint but I loved the layout of the elements and it was just perfect for a movie world page of my kids when they were quite young.

Here is the sketch.....
Okay the only requirement for tonight is this......you can use only 2 colours black and yellow, green and pink, orange and purple..whatever you like....any variations of the same colours is fine, so you may choose blue and pink and use several shades of each colour.. ..so girls go to it!!  Have fun
Kathie -xoxo

I went with the color scheme brown and yellow
and here is a close up
Most of the embellies came from the 'Magpie Club' bits and bobs kit
